Obituary of William A. Quick
Piscataway, NJ – William A. Quick, 85, died peacefully at his home on December 9, 2023. Born in Plainfield to the late William S. and Carmen L. (Rauter) Quick, Bill grew up on the family farm in Piscataway and has been a lifelong resident.
Bill enlisted in the United States Army in 1956 and remained in the Army Reserves for thirty six years, honorably discharged on October 5th 1992 as an E-9. He worked at AT&T in Newark, NJ as an Engineer and retired from the Basking Ridge office in 1996.
Having a love for skiing, Bill also ran the Wee Ski Club (Western Electric Employees Ski Club.) He ran many trips one in Stowe Vermont and where he met his wife. He loved being outdoors whether it be skiing, boating, working on his car or his antique John Deer farm tractor. He loved people, he loved helping people and would go out of his way to lend a helping hand. He also had a love for animals. There wasn’t a stray that went hungry or didn’t get a loving pet to their head. Bill loved life and always approached it with a smile on his face and love in his heart.
Predeceased by his brother Jeff, Bill leaves behind his wife of thirty-eight years, Nancy L. (Carbone) Quick, daughter Annette Quick-Spuler and her husband Chris of Kingwood and son Bill Quick and his wife Joy of Flemington. He will be missed deeply by four grandchildren; Alexandria Tomasetti, Nicholas DePasquale and Billy and Melanie Quick, brother Bruce Quick and his wife Linda of South Amboy and several nieces & nephews.
A memorial service honoring Bill’s life will be held at Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854 on Thursday, December 28, 2023 beginning 6:00pm. A concluding prayer service followed by military honors will be held at 7:30pm.
