Obituary of Alexander Mazur, Jr.
Alexander “Butch” Mazur, Jr., 76, passed away suddenly on Monday, March 25, 2024, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital – New Brunswick.
Born in Newark, NJ to the late Alexander and Anna Mazur, Butch was raised in Newark where he attended High School. A proud veteran, Butch served as an Air Force Mechanic before his honorable discharge in 1972.
Following his military service, Butch worked for New Jersey Bell, which later became AT&T, and later Lucent Technologies, where he worked for over 25 years. Butch then went to work for Middlesex County College, in the IT Department. Here, he was said to have retired, but could not stay away, and was currently still working at the college, part-time.
Butch was an avid coin collector, frequented Atlantic City and loved spending time with family and friends. He also cherished his time spent with his beloved dog, Molly.
Predeceased by his wife, Jo-Ann, daughter, Melissa Mazur and sister, Joyce Picariello, Butch is survived by his two daughters, Michelle (Michael) Kennedy and Jennifer Araya. He will also be missed by his five grandchildren Zackery, Emma, Christian, Melissa, and Caitlyn; and siblings, Robert Mazur and Marilyn Mazzola, along with a host of extended relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway, NJ, on Monday, April 1, 2024 from 4 PM to 8 PM.
A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima RC Church, 501 New Market Road, Piscataway, NJ, on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 10:30 AM. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home prior to mass, beginning at 9:30 AM.
Burial will follow at Resurrection Burial Park, 899 E. Lincoln Avenue, Piscataway, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the Mazur family has asked that donations be made to Disabled American Veterans, in Alexander’s name.
