Obituary of Eleanor K. Hunkele
Eleanor Kay Hunkele (affectionately known as “Kay”), 84, of Middlesex, NJ, entered into eternal rest on Friday September 6, 2024. One of five daughters, Kay was born in Philadelphia, PA to Dorothy and George Washington Heist.
She found love at a Navy dance where she met George Hunkele and shortly thereafter, they became husband and wife. They purchased a home and settled in Middlesex NJ in 1965 and together, they raised two children. Kay and George were happily married for 60 years. She was a devoted Mother to her children, George and Susan and a beloved wife to George.
She worked several jobs during her lifetime, most recently at Timely Advertising in Middlesex NJ. As a housewife, she took pride in keeping the house running and in tip top shape. She always had a checklist in hand to make sure that nothing was missed. Her delicious home cooked meals always brought a smile and thank you to whoever was lucky enough to enjoy them. She enjoyed simple pleasures whether it be bingo or family gatherings and really enjoyed her ice cream. Some of her favorite activities were trips to Atlantic City and the Jersey Shore. You would never be lonely with Kay around as she loved to talk and had an uncanny way of making people laugh by blurting out unexpected comments. She was truly one of a kind and will be remembered by all who met her.
Predeceased by her parents and sister Janice O’Beirne, Kay will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Susan Lane and her husband Russell of Effort PA, and her son George Hunkele and his wife Christine of Aberdeen NJ. She is also survived by her Grandchildren Daniel Lane, Deanna Brunner, George Hunkele Jr., and Christian Hunkele, seven great-grandchildren, sisters Diane Olive, Norma Matase and Susan Graham.
At the request of the Hunkele family, all services at this time have been privately entrusted to Middlesex Funeral Home.
