Obituary of Charles W. Osborn
Charles W. “Chuck” Osborn, 73, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ.
Born in Plainfield, NJ to the late Arthur and Dora Osborn, Chuck was raised in Piscataway, where he has been a lifelong resident. Through the years, he has held many jobs, but most notably were working at Pathmark as a Meat Cutter, Century Conveyors, where he worked as a lead mechanic and foreman installing and repairing conveyors, and most recently, McMaster – Carr, where he worked as Millwright.
Outside of work, Chuck had many passions. A true handyman, he could fix anything. He especially liked to work on cars, specifically classic cars. Through the years he owned many different cars, including a 1969 Ford Mustang and 1963 Ford Galaxie 500. Chuck also enjoyed time traveling alongside his wife, Matilda, visiting most of the 50 states, Ireland, and Canada to name a few stops. Time spent in the garden and going on walks were cherished, but it was the time spent with his grandchildren that meant the most to him. His grandchildren were adored by Chuck, and anytime with them were the best times.
Chuck will be remembered for his patriotism and his caring nature. Always looking to help those around him, he worked hard at fulfilling a favorite saying of his, “Aspire to Inspire before you Expire.” He looked to inspire those around by giving back and helping. He often volunteered at the Zion Baptist Church, and donated blood and platelets when he could.
Predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Mike Osborn and Jim Osborn, Chuck is survived by his wife of 47 years, Matilda (Weir) Osborn; children and step-children, Sherrie Schneider and her husband William, Donald Essig, MaryRuth Mercurio, and Connie Cosentino and her husband Daniel; and grandchildren, Anthony, Salvatore, Frank and his wife Faith, Donald, Gina, Ryan, Tiffany, Nicholas, Emily, and Michael. He will also be missed by his siblings, Susan Stuart, Robert Osborn, and Pete Osborn, along with a host of extended relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway, NJ, on Monday, September 16, 2024, from 4 PM to 7 PM.
