Obituary of Eileen Anne Tener
South Plainfield – Eileen Anne Tener, 76, passed away peacefully at home with family early Wednesday morning, September 18, 2024.
Born in Newark to William and Irene Rittershofer, Eileen grew up in Union and graduated from Archbishop Walsh High School in Irvington in 1965. Upon graduation, she worked for Prudential. Later, Eileen worked for PSE&G, where she met her husband Jack. They were married in 1972 and settled to South Plainfield in 1974 where they raised their two daughters. In 2011, she retired as an office administrator at Team Staff.
Eileen enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles and gardening. She also liked to travel, and had a particular love for Bermuda and cruising. She cherished the time with her family and will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and sister.
Eileen is predeceased by her parents as well as two siblings, Mary Bernstein and Billy Rittershofer. Surviving is her loving husband of 52 years, Jack; two daughters, Karen Grzywacz and her husband Matthew and Jill Milstein and her husband Eric; her sister, Kathy Dymyd as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 10AM in Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway.
Family and friends are invited to gather in the funeral home on Saturday morning beginning at 8AM.
