Obituary of Josephine Vocisano
Josephine “Jo” Vocisano, 82, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville.
Born in Anoia, Calabria, Italy to Giorgio and Maria Sibio, Josephine immigrated to the United States at the age of 13 where she completed her education and went on to graduate from Cosmotology school. She met and married her late husband, Luigi in 1962, built their first home together that same year and welcomed daughter Vivian in 1963 and Lisa in 1965. They resided in Piscataway until relocating to Somerset in 2019.
Josephine was a hairdresser for 50+ years while alongside Luigi, building and managing their business of custom home building. In earlier years, Josephine was a participant in bowling leagues, enjoyed ceramics and even tried her hand at guitar lessons. She will be remembered for her love of cooking, sewing, traveling, the beach and entertaining family and friends throughout the years. Above all, she enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren. Josephine impacted the lives of so many and will forever live in the hearts of her family and friends.
Predeceased by her beloved husband, Luigi Vocisano, their beloved Bella and sister, Catherine Mercuri; surviving are her two daughters, Vivian LaGuarina and her husband Frank of Somerset, Lisa Magliaro and her husband Michael of Whitehouse Station, sister Yolanda Felty and husband Frank; brother in law, George Mercuri; cherished grandchildren, Frankie, Emma, Jenna, Julia, MJ, Lexi, Alyssa and great granddaughter, Ella Loren and several loving brothers and sisters in laws and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 from 4pm to 8pm at the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 beginning at 10am at the funeral home followed by aa 11am mass at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Piscataway.
Entombment will follow at Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway.
