Obituary of Bruce F Plath, Sr.
Piscataway – Bruce F. Plath, Sr., 76, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024 peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
Born to the late Gustave and Ethel (Fielder) Plath in Jersey City, Bruce grew up in Hoboken. He met the love of his life, Laura DeForge of Staten Island. After eight years of dating, they married on May 26, 1973 and settled to Piscataway in 1977 to raise their family.
Known to many as “Mr. Fix It”, Bruce loved his Ford trucks as well as working on them. While in his garage, where he could often be found, Bruce listened to his classic rock and roll and golden oldies while enjoying a Budweiser. His other happy places and hobbies were tending to his vegetable garden, fishing or crabbing or spending July vacationing in Ocean City, Maryland.
He will miss “The Lake”, his favorite watering hole and will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Predeceased by his wife of 55 years who passed in January 2020, Laura Plath; surviving are two children, Bruce F. Plath, Jr. and significant other, Jackie Leddy and Michelle Plath and significant other Dan Moller; two grandchildren, Gillian and Jonathan, and his fur grandbabies Amour, Joey Jr, Olivia, Wiley and Winston. He will also be missed by his brother Gus Plath (wife Ellie) and brother in law John DeForge.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2024 from 10AM - 1PM in Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway NJ 08854.
Cremation will be held privately.
