Obituary of Lucille Frances Neumann

Lucille Frances Neumann nee Perry, 89, of South Plainfield, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2018 at The Center for Hope Hospice, Scotch Plains. Born in New Brunswick on April 14, 1929 to the late Leslie Perry and Constance Papez, she graduated from Plainfield High School in 1947. Lucille went on to work for Prudential Newark and Beck's Bakery before marrying the late Robert Thomas Neumann of Plainfield. The Neumann's settled in South Plainfield in 1950 and Lucille graduated from Middlesex County College in 1968, where she worked as a worked as a full time clerk, until her retirement in 1988. Mr. and Mrs. Neumann were the owner and operators of Neumann Sheet Metal in Plainfield. Lucille enjoyed community volunteer service. She was the president of the South Plainfield Rescue Squad Auxiliary, the New Jersey Gold Cross Auxiliary, the New Market-Dunellen Women's Club EMD, and served as a volunteer at Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield. She was the recipient of multiple awards for her service at the Arthritis Foundation in Woodbridge and the Red Cross Union County/Plainfield branch. She served in a variety of positions with the First Baptist Church and Cemetery of South Plainfield. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Thomas Neumann and her sister in law, Gertrude McLean of South Plainfield. Surviving are her loving son, Robert W. Neumann and wife Jean A. of North Plainfield, her grandchildren John and Kristi Kline of Summerdale, Dan and Delores Grant of Hi Nella, her five great grandchildren Nickolaus, Antonio, Ashley, Madison, and Theodore, dear siblings Jack Perry and wife Marianne and Helen Bishop-Forester and husband Carl, brother in law William Neumann and wife Margaret, as well as her extended family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to gather for visitation on Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 1:00 to 5:00PM at the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield. Funeral services will be begin at 10:00AM on Monday, May 21, 2018 at the funeral home with family and friends welcome to arrive beginning at 9:30AM. Interment will follow at Lake Nelson Memorial Park, Piscataway. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lucille's memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or the Alzheimer's Association.
