Sidney Tenney
South Plainfield, NJ - Sidney Tenney died on April 14, 2008 at his residence. He was born January 30, 1926 to Max and Ceilia Rudolf Tenney in Albany NY and is predeceased by his sister Sarah Tenney Olshan. He has been a resident of South Plainfield since 1965.
Sidney graduated from Albany High School and served as a Corporal in the United States Army Air Corps. during WWII where he flew as a crew chief in the B-17 and B-25 aircraft. After being discharged from the Air Corps., he earned a degree from Utica Tech, Utica, NY and later earned a private pilot's license.
He worked for General Electric for forty years in Schenectady, NY and then Wyoming, Arizona, Mexico, Argentina and Venezuela.
He is survived by his wife Annette (Levin) Tenney whom he married in 1952 and their three children; Sandra Tenney, Matthew Tenney and wife Kim and Laura and Husband Mark Rutkowski. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Stephanie and Ashleigh Millman, Sophia Spector and Max Tenney.
In Retirement, Sidney extensively traveled the United States, Canada, Alaska and Mexico. He loved camping with his wife Annette in their Airstream Trailer and was active in the Airstream club as an officer. He was a member of the Air Force Association Shooting Star Chapter in New Jersey, American Legion Chaumont Post #243 and Elks B.P.O.E. Lodge #2298 both of South Plainfield. Sidney was known for his sense of humor, jokes and his sparkling blue eyes.
He assisted in volunteering for many years with Deborah Hospital.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in his name to Deborah Heart and Lung, P.O. Box 820, Browns Mills, NJ 08015.
