John " Phil' Ryan
South Plainfield - John P. Ryan 70, known to many as "Phil" died suddenly on Tuesday, August 21, 2007.
Born and raised in Hingham, Massachusetts, Phil entered collage at the age of 16 and graduated with his Bachelors and Masters Degree from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. He resided in Washington, NJ before settling to South Plainfield in 1985.
Phil proudly served his country in the Army National Guard for 8 years.
A loyal, long time employee of Colgate Palmolive of Piscataway, Phil began his career in the early 1960's. Phil worked in a number of important areas including, New Ventures, Packaging and Quality Assurance. He later became the liaison between Colgate USA and Colgate Mexico to assure all United States specification were being followed. Another vital part of Phil's career was serving as the liaison for Colgate and The United Way. He retired in 1998.
Phil had a love for playing and singing music for his family and friends. He also had the ability to play a variety of musical instruments. In addition, he was a faithful 22 year communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield.
Predeceased by his parents and two sisters, he is survived by his beloved wife, Paula; his three children, Kerri Ryan, Jay Ryan & his wife Hannah and Colleen (Murphy) and her husband, Warren Grossenbacher. His five brothers; Albert & his wife Carol, Daniel & his wife Helen Spencer, Bill & his wife Maria, Frank & his wife Llen& Gerry & his wife Linda. His mother in law, Betty Danik, sisters in law, Maryellen & her husband, Julian Strauss and Diane Danik & his brother in law, Steven Danik & his wife, Lynne.
Also surviving is his precious granddaughter, Allyson Ryan.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 27, 2007 at 9:15 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ., followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass in Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield.
Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains, NJ.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the funeral home
