Obituary of John A. Staats

John A. Staats Edison - John A. Staats, 95, died on Monday, September 7, 2009 at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home at Menlo Park in Edison. Born and raised in South Plainfield, John resided in Rahway for nearly 40 years before moving to Edison 8 years ago. For many years John tended bar at the former Maple Bar and Restaurant in South Plainfield and Snuffy's Pantagis Restaurant in Scotch Plains. A longtime member of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield, John was a member of the South Plainfield Knight of Columbus Council 6203 and recently received his 50 year membership pin. A Veteran of WWII John served with the Army and was a member of the South Plainfield VFW Post 6763. He is pre-deceased by 1 sister and 7 brothers. Surviving are his 2 children; Linda Garguilo of Jackson and John Staats and his wife Carol of Keyport, his sister Margaret Sheldon of South Plainfield, his brother William Staats and his grandchildren; Jessica, John G. and Alex Staats and Sheri, Dawn and William Garguilo. Visitation and funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 8:30 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Interment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home, 132 Evergreen Rd., Edison, NJ 08818
