Obituary of Paul A. Bogden

Paul A. Bogden Plainfield - Paul A. Bogden, 91, died on Friday November 2, 2007 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield. Born in Robertsdale, PA. in 1916, he moved with his family at a young age to Jersey City, NJ. He resided there until 1953 when he and his family settled in South Plainfield. He was employed as an electrician for Westinghouse in Jersey City, where he worked with the company for over forty years. With many years of experience, Paul also served as a group leader before his retirement at age 65. He had a passion for baseball. Paul played semi -professional baseball for the former Alamos of Jersey City as a catcher during the late 1930's and early 1940's where he was named league MVP several times. He later instilled his love for baseball in others by managing and coaching with the South Plainfield Junior Baseball Club for many years. As a member of Sacred Heart RC Church, Paul served the parish as a long time and faithfully active member for numerous years. Paul had a great love for his grandchildren and spent many hours with them. Additionally, he enjoyed working in his vegetable garden at his home. He is predeceased by his sister, Mary and his brother, John. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Anne ( Stepanik ), his four sons and their wives, John & Doreen of South Plainfield, Paul & Beverly of Flemington, Kenneth & Susan of Summit, and Jim & Carol of Mercer Island, Washington. Also surviving are his eight beloved grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at 9:15 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield, NJ 07080, followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass in Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 5, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the funeral home.
