William M. Saley
Edison - William M. Saley, 83, died on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at Robert Wood University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born in Pottsville, Pennsylvania William lived in Piscataway before settling in Edison many years ago.
Bill and his wife Helen (Konopka) were world travelers and over a period of 30 years they visited over 100 countries.
A member of the American Legion Post # 65 in Metuchen, Bill served with the U.S. Army during WWII.
For 6 years Bill served on the Edison Planning Board and he also served as chairman of the Feasibility Committee for JFK Hospital.
Mr. Saley was employed by Motor Vehicle Commission for 31 years retiring as Assistant Director. After his retirement, Bill worked for the State Department in Washington D.C. for 16 months, and for 7 years he taught computer science for the night course program at Rutgers University in New Brunswick.
He is pre-deceased by his parents Michael and Eva Saley and by an infant daughter.
In addition to his wife of 60 years, he is survived by his sister Sophie Kowalchuk and his nephew Michael Kowalchuk, 2 nieces Susan DiNardo of Florida and Karen Pack of Arizonia, friends of long standing Bill and Ginny Jackson, Steve Yelencics and family, his brother in-law Dominick DiNardo of South Plainfield and his sister in-law Estelle Szaro of Florida. He also leaves behind his 2 cats Spooky and Pinky.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 8:45 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield follow by a 10:15 AM funeral mass at St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral, Metuchen.
Entombment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum, South Plainfield.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the funeral home.
In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Animal Care Fund, Box A, East Smithfield, PA, 18817.
