Henry F. Wanagiel
North Plainfield - Henry Francis Wanagiel, 85, died on Monday, August 27, 2007 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield.
Born in Brooklyn, Henry was a graduate of Loughlin high School in Queens. He had resided in Long Island until 1972 when he and his family settled to North Plainfield.
He served in the Unites States Air Force during WWII, stationed in the Aleutian Islands with the 337th Fighter Squadron before being honorably discharged in 1946.
Henry was employed as an Overseas Traffic Manager for Ingersoll - Rand in South Plainfield before retiring in the in the late 1980's. He had previously been employed in the same capacity with Asiatic Petroleum in NYC. After retirement, Henry assisted as an "Eldercare Specialist" for the department of aging in Bridgewater.
In his younger years, he was active in Little League with his son. Henry also enjoyed stamp collecting and was a model train hobbyist.
Predeceased by his sister, Jayne and his brother Benjamin, he is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Eleanor (Wisniewski), his son, Robert and his daughter, Judith Bloom & her husband, Andrew and his two grandchildren, David Bloom & Karin Bloom.
Funeral services will begin on Friday, August 31, 2007 at 8:45 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals,, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, followed by a 9:30 AM funeral mass in St. Joseph's Church, North Plainfield.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 from 6-8 & Thursday, August 30, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the funeral home.
Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Woodside, Queens, NY.
