Joseph R. Butrico South Plainfield - Joseph R. Butrico, 97, died on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 in the JFK Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born in New York City, Joe moved to South Plainfield as a child and has resided in the boro ever since. He worked for the Borough of South Plainfield in the Sewer Department for 14 years before retiring in 1976. Prior to working for the borough, Mr. Burtico worked for the former Cornell Dubilier also located in South Plainfield as a welder for 12 years. In addition, Joe worked for the Ship Yard in Perth Amboy during WWII, Harris Steel Co. in South Plainfield and during the 1930's Mr. Butrico worked as an Ice Cream maker for the former Costa Ice Cream Co. in Metuchen. A longtime communicant of Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church in South Plainfield, Joe was also a member of the South Plainfield Italian American Club. He is pre-deceased by his wife Rose E. (Gandocs) who died in 1995, 2 sisters; Mary and Josephine Butrico and by 3 brothers; John, Carmen and Frank. Surviving are his 3 daughters; Anna M. Cascella of Manalapan, and Josephine Cerreta and her husband Michael of New Mexico and Rose B. Ayers and her husband Fred of South Plainfield, 2 sisters; Theresa DiSesso of South Plainfield and Grace Scala of Pennsylvania and his brother William of Florida. Also surviving are his 5 grandchildren and 9 Great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 9:45am in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield. Followed by a 10:30 AM funeral mass at Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church, South Plainfield. Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2009 from 3-7 PM in the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers donations and be made to the Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church, 120 Kosciusko Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080
