Margaret Bazsika
South Plainfield-Margaret (Basarab) Bazsika, 87, died on Thursday, September 17, 2009 at the Genesis Eldercare at The Woodlands in Plainfield.
Born in Perth Amboy on November 3, 1921, to Pauline and John Basarab, Mrs. Bazsika resided there until the late 1950's when she and her husband settled in South Plainfield.
As a young woman she traveled alone to California to see friends, which was quite an adventure at the time. She came back to New Jersey and eventually met and married Joseph Bazsika on May 12, 1951. He stole her heart taking her on a lifetime full of adventures, both near and as far away as France, New Zealand and Alaska for their 50th wedding anniversary.
Margaret was devoted to her husband and four children, always placing their wants and needs ahead of her own. When the house emptied out, she chose to go back to work and was employed by the local Bradlees until she joined her husband in retirement in 1988.
She is predeceased by her husband Joseph A. Bazsika, her sister Helen Dudik, and her brothers Steven, Charles, George, and John.
Surviving are her two daughters, Maryann & her husband Bill Mosca of Branchburg, Margaret of Las Vegas, NV, her two sons, James of New Zealand and Joseph, Jr. of South Plainfield, and her two sisters, Anne Pfister of Edison and Pauline Pidich of Sewaren, NJ.
Also surviving are her five grandchildren, Lily, Joseph & Kathryn Mosca and Matthew & Caroline Bazsika.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 8:45AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Perth Amboy.
Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 from 3-7 PM in the funeral home.
In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater NJ Chapter, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834.
