Franklin Wyckoff Shrewsbury - Franklin Wyckoff, 90, died on Monday, October 8, 2012 in the St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch. Born and raised in South Plainfield, Franklin resided in town for nearly 80 years prior to relocating to Shrewsbury in 2002. During his time in South Plainfield, Mr. Wyckoff served on the Police Department for 25 years and retired as a Detective Sergeant. He served as a committee charter member of the PAL building, was a member of American Legion Post #243 and also served as past president of the Local # 100 South Plainfield PBA. Mr. Wyckoff served with the Navy during WWII as a Rear Gunner. He was an avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life. Frank will especially be remembered for his sense of humor, enthusiasm for life and his passion for working on his boats. He also loved his many friends at the Brandywine Sycamore Assisted Living facility in Shrewsbury. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 66 years; Elvira who died in 2008 and a sister; Jean Furino. Surviving are two sons; Franklin Jr. and his wife Christine of Leonardo and Tom and his wife Paddy of South Plainfield, a sister; Edith Egan and her husband Edward of Sun City West, AZ, his brother; Harold Wyckoff and his wife Pauline of Ortley Beach, four grandchildren; Jennifer & Brad Augusta, Robbie Gaydos and Mary Hawkins and four great grandchildren; Holly, Erica, Steven and Roxy. Also surviving are three great great grandchildren; Dylan, Lilly and Charlotte. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Entombment will follow in Clover Leaf Memorial Park Mausoleum, Woodbridge. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2012 from 5:00-8:00 PM in the funeral home.
