Eleanor V. Wanagiel
North Plainfield, NJ - Eleanor V. (Wisniewski) Wanagiel, 85, died on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Somerset Valley Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Bound Brook where she was a temporary resident for rehabilitation. Born and raised in Brooklyn, in 1952 she moved to Franklin Square, LI, NY and has been a resident of North Plainfield since 1972.
She retired from Somerset School in the North Plainfield School District as a teachers aide in the early 1990's. While living in NY, she was a longtime volunteer in the Garden City South Little League. She has been a member of St. Joseph's RC Church in North Plainfield and was active with their Altar Rosary Society.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband Henry, who died after sixty-one years of marriage in 2007 and by her siblings; Regina in 2005 and Edward in 2003.
Eleanor leaves behind her children; Robert Wanagiel of North Plainfield and Judith Bloom and her husband Andrew of Moorpark, CA. She will be missed by her grandchildren; David Bloom of Chicago, IL and Karin Sexton of Agoura Hills, CA.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, October 6, 2011 beginning 9:15am in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 10:00am funeral mass at St. Joseph's RC Church in North Plainfield. Eleanor will be laid to rest in the family plot of the 1st Calvary Cemetery, Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY.
Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 and Wednesday, October 5, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9pm and on Thursday from 9:00am until the service time.
