Obituary of Pauline Zahuta

Ft Lauderdale, FL - Pauline Zahuta, 87, passed into eternal life on Tuesday, May 13, 2014. Born and raised in South Plainfield, NJ, Pauline resided there before moving to Ft. Lauderdale in 1996. Pauline was a dedicated homemaker to her family. She enjoyed raising her children and devoting time and love to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A devout Catholic, Pauline was a faithful member of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield and regularly attended Novena prayer services. She became a member of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs RC Church after relocating to Ft. Lauderdale. Pauline was a former member of the Plainfield West Nine Women's Golf League and the South Plainfield Recreation Mixed Bowling League. She was a passionate fan of the NY Yankees and NY Giants. Pauline was predeceased by her husband, Andrew "Tim" Zahuta; two children, Nancy and Michael; parents, Paulina and Michael Pohira; sisters, Ann Zampella and Helen Esolda; and brothers, Michael and Charles. Surviving Pauline are her daughter, Susan Johnson and husband, Keith Rodney, of Ft. Lauderdale; sons Paul and wife, Roberta, of Pleasanton, CA; Joseph and wife, Sally, of Denville, NJ; and Rev. Thomas Zahuta of Atlanta, GA; sisters Mary Yatczyn of Morristown, NJ and Margaret Lewkow of Littleton, CO; brother John Pohira of Winter Park, FL; and 11 grandchildren; Kelly, William, Timothy and Lauren Johnson of FL, Andrew, Mary, and Michael Zahuta of CA; Peter, John, and Sarah Zahuta, of NJ; and Katherine Rupp and husband, Carl, also of NJ. Also surviving are two great grandchildren, Scarlett and Makenzie. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 19 from 4-8 pm at the McCriskin - Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am, Tuesday, May 20 at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Interment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield.
