Dunellen - Ann (Tinnesz) Sopko, 93, died on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Somerset in Somerville, NJ Born and raised in Cranford, Ann, settled to Dunellen in 1969. Ann was a former communicant of St. Michael's Church in Cranford and St. John's Church in Dunellen, Ann has been attending St. Bernard of Clairvaux & St. Stanislaus Kostka RC Church in Plainfield. Ann was a loving and caring wife to her husband Walter for 52 years until his passing in 1996. She was a devoted mother, godmother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother and girl scout leader. She was also an animal lover and friend to many. In addition to her husband she is predeceased by her siblings, Anton and Peter Tinnesz, Katherine Lear, Evelyn Thaiz and Mary Steiner. Surviving are her daughter; Janet Bender of Bedminster; two sons, Steven Sopko of White House Station and Walter Sopko of Miami, FL; two grandchildren, Tammy McGinty and Allison Conti and one great grandchild, Angelica Rose Conti. She will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, sisters in law and god children. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 5, 2015 at 8:45AM in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ followed by a funeral mass at 10AM in St. Bernard of Clairvaux & St. Stanislaus Kostka RC Church in Plainfield. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Westfield. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-7PM in the funeral home.
