Obituary of Diana V. Cisson

Diana Vantoria Cisson was born in Jacksonville, Florida on July 18, 1946 to James and Lillie Mae Brown. She spent the early years of her childhood in South Bound Brook, New Jersey. At age thirteen, she moved to South Plainfield, New Jersey where she graduated and married her high school sweetheart, Gregory Cisson. Diana enjoyed American-Indian novels, Star Trek, butterscotch pudding, crabs, and 7-up. She was a master chef, a confidant, and a neighborhood Nana. Her nurturing spirit was magical. Some may say healing; hence, it attracted many. Diana dedicated her entire life to her family and forbade separation at every cost. As a result, she assumed the responsibility of her husband's younger siblings and later, opened her home to a long list of neices and nephews. On Tuesday, July 16, 2013, just two days short of her 67th birthday, Diana passed away peacefully in her sleep. Survivors include her husband Gregory Cisson; her son Shaun (Amy) Cisson; two daughters: April (Jimmy) Figueroa and Sushama Cisson; three grand-daughters: Shaunique Vantoria Cisson, Jinez Figueroa, and Nya Figueroa; two sisters: Myra Brown and Bessina Brown-Barr; one brother Mark Brown; eleven other children raised: Robert(deceased), Cedric, Cecil, and Doretha Casey, Michael Ben, Michelle, Mulikia, Precious, and Shakyra Phillips, Michael and Mikia Washington; and a host of nieces, nephews, and loving friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 beginning at 6PM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield NJ 07080. Cremation will follow privately. Family and friends may attend visitation prior to the funeral service on Tuesday, July 23rd from 3-6PM in the funeral home.
