Obituary of Gerald Richard Dafgard

South Plainfield - Gerald Richard Dafgard, 72, died Wednesday, September 9th, 2015 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in New Brunswick, Gerald grew up in Piscataway prior to residing in Cumberland. He and his wife, Karen settled to South Plainfield in early 2000. Prior to retiring, Gerald was the owner and operator Dafgard Painting in Cumberland. He also owned a restaurant in Cumberland with his wife. Gerald thoroughly enjoyed sports and watching professional football, baseball and college football, especially Rutgers University Football. Gerald enjoyed watching horse racing and coaching little league baseball in his younger years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren & taking them to amusement parks and swimming. He will be forever in our hearts. Surviving are his wife, Karen (Boylan) of South Plainfield; two daughters, Heather Dafgard of South Plainfield and Suzanne Dafgard and husband, Uriel Tinajero of Neshanic Station and seven grandchildren; Mariah, Randy, Santos, Naomi, Nani, Uriel Jr. and Alex. He will also be missed by a host of nieces and nephews. Family and friends may gather for visitation on Monday, September 14, 2015 from 4-6PM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ 07080. Cremation will follow privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rutgers University Foundation, 303 George Street, Suite 301, New Brunswick, NJ 08901 or any affiliation Little League of ones choosing.
