South Plainfield - Albert J. Kolvites 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 2,2015 at his home. Born in Wellsburg, West Virginia, Albert first settled in Belle Mead, NJ before moving to South Plainfield in 1957. He served his country proudly in the US Navy during WWII. He was later employed at Bell Labs in Murray Hill as a draftsman and designer for 34 years prior to his retirement in 1987. An active member of the South Plainfield Knights of Columbus Council , American Legion Chaumont Post #243, the Tin Can Sailors, Albert was also a life member of the Polish National Home where he served as an officer and a long time communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church. He enjoyed volunteering his time coaching little league, serving as a Boy Scout leader and supporting his children when they were younger, as well as, trips to Atlantic City later in life. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Janet, son, Paul and siblings, Helen, Peter, Anthony, Theodore and Victor. Surviving are his two sons, William and his wife, Colleen of Barnegat, Robert and his wife, Janine of South Plainfield; daughter, Lori MacManus and her husband Colin of Warren, 7 grandchildren, Anthony, Kimberly Jones and her husband, Rusty, Adam, Bobby, Dylan, Carly and Ashley. He also leaves behind his devoted care taker, Sarah Halm Majette, sister in law Helen Johnston and her husband, Bradford and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will begin on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 10 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield. Family and friends may attend the visitation hours on Sunday, from 2-4 & 7-9 PM and Monday from 9:15 AM until the time of the services in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Alzheimer Association
