Charles T. Adams South Plainfield - Charles T. Adams, 94, died Saturday, December 8, 2012 at JFK Haven Hospice, in Edison. Charles was born at home in the original farmhouse on the Adams Family Farm, located on the border of South Plainfield and Edison. He remained a lifelong resident, attended and graduated from North Plainfield High School and enjoyed all the class reunions that were held over the many years since his graduation. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1947. Employed as a machine operator, Charles initially worked for Cornell Dubilier, then Bound Brook Bearing before joining S.S. White in Piscataway prior to his retirement. Charles could often be found tinkering around the farm, tending to his many flowers. He was an avid gardener and he prided himself on knowing all the names of the many species of plants, bushes and trees that were on the farm and he loved to share that knowledge with you by walking around the farm with him. He was proud of his extensive collection of rocks from every state and many countries. Charles was also an excellent ice skater and talented ballroom dancer, which he enjoyed all of his life. Born to the late Alexander and Catherine (Yuszcak) Adams, he was one of twelve siblings and was the last surviving member of his siblings. He was predeceased by his dancing companion and friend, Helen Grecek. Surviving are two nieces; Carol Bock and Frances Ammerman, fifteen great nieces and nephews; Margaret, Edward, Cathy, Todd, Darvene, Michelle, Daniel, Margaret, Sherry, Donna, Timothy, Marianne, James, Deborah and Jennifer and several great - great nieces and nephews. Zena and Frank Kazmierski are two special friends that also survive him. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 17, 2012 at 10:30 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield NJ 07080 followed by a funeral mass at 11:30 AM in Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Entombment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield. Family and friends may attend visitation on Sunday, December 16, 2012 from 3-7 PM in the funeral home.
