Obituary of Anthony E. Costantino

Anthony E. "Tony" Costantino South Plainfield - Anthony E. "Tony" Costantino, 84, passed away on Tuesday morning, November 13, 2012 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick. Born and raised in Newark, he settled to South Plainfield in the late 1960's where he had resided for most of his life before recently residing with his daughter, Joann, in Brick. Tony was a well known, self employed Master Tailor. He operated Alter Quick from his former home on Maltby Avenue in South Plainfield for many years. He semi retired only to continue his work for those he was closest to. In his younger years, Tony also tailored for several of the well known department stores in Plainfield. Tony, along with his late wife, "Chick," was also a long time and faithful communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church. He had assisted with the church's annual fair and his love of cooking also lead him to be the cook for the priest at the church for several years. Additionally he was member of the Knights of Columbus, South Plainfield Council #6203 and was a model train enthusiast. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Ruth "Chick" (DeLuca), she died in December of 2006, his daughter, Denise A. Padilla who died suddenly in May of 2011 and his brother, Nicholas. Surviving are his two daughters, Joann Toolan and Maryann Santino, a sister, Anne Valente, ten grandchildren; Melissa, Joseph, Luis, Erica, Nicholas, Thomas, Jeffrey, Meghan, Mark and Morgan and two great grandchildren, Timothy and Anthony. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 9:15 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Entombment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum, South Plainfield. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation hours on Thursday, November 15C, 2012 from 6-9 PM in the funeral home.
