Piscataway - Conrad A. "Rags" Williams, 83, died on Monday, April 29, 2013 in Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, NJ. Born in Bridgewater, "Rags" as he was known to so many, was raised in the New Market section of Piscataway, had resided in North Plainfield before settling to Piscataway over 40 years ago. He had served in the United States Merchant Marines and upon his discharge initially worked as a truck driver for Moore's Trucking. He then owned and operated the former Fanwood Garage which he operated until he returned to driving, working for National Can and retired from Warco Trucking. Rags also found enjoyment in operating a Hot Dog Cart in Middlesex for many years before full retiring. In his younger years, he had spent time racing modified stock cars and more recently, enjoyed watching the Game Show Network and doing crossword puzzles. He is predeceased by two daughters; Sharon Harvan and Brenda Valentinuzzi, a son; Thomas D. Smith, Jr., a brother; William and a nephew; Paul Williams. Surviving are his wife; Margaret ( Perry ), daughters; Rosemary Kluxen and her husband, Mark, Joanne Perna and her husband, Leonardo, sons; Peter Smith and his wife, Sandi and Michael Smith and his wife Denise, brother; Bruce Williams, 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 3, 2013 at 10 :00 AM in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Burial Park Mausoleum, Piscataway. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 5-9 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children Specialized Hospital, 150 New Providence Road, Mountainside, NJ 07092.
