Pocono Lake, PA - Anne (Yanik) Norko, 84, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Brookmont Health Care in Effort, PA. Born in Kristy, Czechoslovakia, Anne immigrated to the United States alone when she was 8 to join her parents who were already in New York City. She grew up in Carteret and Woodbridge. After marrying the late Albert J. Norko in 1952, she lived in Perth Amboy for 28 years and then in South Plainfield for 24 years before relocating to Pocono Lake with her daughter's family ten years ago. Anne was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Perth Amboy, where she was an Elder. She worked as a bookkeeper at the Perth Amboy YMCA, for an accounting firm in Perth Amboy and for the Diocese of Metuchen after her children were raised. She enjoyed watching the Yankees, reading, watching the deer in her backyard, and especially being with her family and friends. Predeceased by her husband Albert, who died in 1995, her brother John and sister Jan, surviving are her two children, Ann Mitchell and husband Vincent of Pocono Lake, PA and Dr. Michael A. Norko and wife Debra of Durham, CT, four grandchildren, Lindsey, Cody, John and Joanna, her dear friend Albert Gaete, and her brother Richard Yanik. Funeral services will begin on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 9:30AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ 07080. Entombment will follow in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge. Family and friends may attend visitation on Friday from 7-9PM in the funeral home.
