Obituary of Irene P. Puha

Irene P. Puha South Plainfield - Irene P. (nee Blasczak) Puha, 84, died Friday November 30, 2012 at JFK Medical Center in Edison with her family at her side. Born in Newark to the late Stefan Blasczak and Czeslawa Kwiatkowski, Irene resided in South Plainfield for 55 years before moving to Toms River in 1984. Irene was a very diverse person who was active in the South Plainfield PTA, volunteered as a brownie leader and was devoted to her church. She was a long time communicant of Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church in South Plainfield and their Rosary Society with a special devotion to the Blessed Mother and Rosary. Irene and Charles were members of the Polish National Home in South Plainfield. She was best known for her home made potato salad, and a gourmet cook, Irene, passed on traditional Polish cooking to her daughters and granddaughters. She was also known to be a fashionista and an avid doll collector. Irene also enjoyed reading, following NASCAR, rooting on the NY Yankees and NY Giants. As a talented painter and artist, she enjoyed showing her paintings in Juried Art shows. Additionally, she was a gifted seamstress and gracious host, but most importantly will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. "Renee" will be sadly missed by her many family and friends because she was thoughtful, inspiring and lots of fun. She is predeceased by her three brothers; Peter, Frank and Chester Blasczak. Surviving is her devoted husband of 65 years; Charles, five children; Dianne M. Phillips (Stephen J.), Marilyn Choshan (Josef), Stefanie Demico, Charles M. (Carol) and Jane Sheedy (Robert), and four grandchildren; Stephen C., Catherine Marie, Kaitlyn and Kimberly. She will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and godchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at 9:45 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield NJ 07080 followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10:30 AM in Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church, South Plainfield. Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield. Family and friends may attend visitation on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 from 4-8 PM in the funeral home. Donations may be made to the Charity of your choice in Irene's memory.
