Obituary of Victor P. DiLEO

Victor P. DiLeo Passed peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, February 3, 2014. Born in 1926 in Plainfield, NJ. The family moved to Piscataway, NJ in 1936 a rural farming community at the time, where Victor continued to work and raise a family for the next 78 years. After graduating New Brunswick High School in 1944, Victor enlisted in the US Navy until he was honorably discharged as a pharmacist mate 3rd class in 1946. Upon his return, Victor joined his father in business at J. DiLeo Real Estate and Insurance Agency. Victor ran the family Insurance business until selling in 1983 and continued in the now third generation family real estate business until retiring in 2013.In 1970 Victor received a charter from the US Treasury Dept to form the First National Bank of Piscataway which he served as Chairman of The Board, President and CEO, growing the bank to 3 branches in Piscataway until the bank merged with Commercial Trust Company where Victor remained on the Board ultimately with United Jersey Bank until he retired 1992.In Addition to his many successful business ventures, Victor was an active participant in many local activities and charitable and civic organizations.He was a former Commissioner of Middlesex County Tax Board, Chairman of the Piscataway Sewer Authority and Zoning Board, President of the Edison Exchange Club and the Piscataway Italian American Club. Former Trustee of JFK Medical Center, Hartwyck Nursing Home, Our Lady of Fatima Church, Arnold Schwartz Foundation and the American Cancer Society of Middlesex County.Victor was an avid Golfer and Tennis player. He enjoyed spending winters in Florida, his grandchildren and his community.Mr. DiLeo is Survived by his loving wife of 63 years Ethel "Eadie" nee (Bara) DiLeo formerly of South River; by his Children Jacqueline DiLeo-Haszu and her husband Louis Haszu, Robert DiLeo and his wife Nadine DiLeo and Susan DiLeo; his sister Marie Kalman, his Grandchildren Dominic, Matthew, Robert, Elena, Gregory, Natalie; his Step-Granchildren, Frank, Anthony and Vincent and many nieces and nephews.Funeral services will begin Friday 9am from the Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Rd, Piscataway, NJ 08854 followed by a 10 am funeral liturgy at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Piscataway. Entombment will be in the Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway. Visitation hours are Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 pm at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, NJ or to a charity of your choice in Victors name.
