Obituary of Anthony J. Donato

Anthony J. Donato, 84, died on Sunday, February 28, 2016 in the Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born and raised in Jersey City, Mr. Donato had resided in South Plainfield since 1959. A Veteran of the Armed Forces, Anthony served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1952. He worked as a Major Accounts Manager for Western Union and in 1993 he retired from MCI. An avid musician, Mr. Donato was a talented Saxophone and Clarinet player. He enjoyed singing, recording his own music and listening to Frank Sinatra but above everything else, he loved spending time with his family. Predeceased by his parents, Vincent and Helen (Yanuzzi) Donato, Mr. Donato is also predeceased by his brother, Matthew Donato and daughter, Karen Ann Donato Kapsch. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Lorraine (Gasso) Donato, children; Cheryl Bellonio and her husband Dan of Piscataway, Kathleen Hajduk and her husband Michael, John Donato and his wife Wendi and James Anthony and his wife Jeanmarie all of South Plainfield, grandchildren; Daniel, Joseph, Michael, Lori, Vincent, Sherrie Lynne, Taylor, Jamie, and Anthony and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will begin on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 11am at the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave, South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Entombment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum, South Plainfield, NJ Friends and family are invited to gather for the visitation on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 5-8pm in the funeral home.
